The worst auction ever
Hey guys!

So awhile back I purchased a AG-G Raw No problem 1932-S Washington Quarter. It is a key date in the series. I got it from a dealer for $100. I thought this was a fair price, so I bought it. (it was).
Recently I needed the money to pay for a ticket (a theme park ticket, that is). So I picked this coin out, because I knew I could get a better condition one soon. I decided to let it go to auction at my local coin club. I consigned it at the beginning of the meeting, and was all set with a $1 reserve(so I can be sure it sells). When the time came (near the end of the meeting), a lot of people were tiered of sitting, and anxious to go home. (I was not) The auction started off at the reserve, and rose to $5 in a matter of 10 seconds. Then (thank goodness), a dealer rose it to $20 to get the ball rolling. I guess either a lot of people had either missed the coin, hidden near the end, or were not interested, as it slowly climbed to the $40 mark from a YN with a smart brain. It sold for $40 even. WHATTT???? That is less than half of the fair market price, (approx. $100) The YN was happy, and I got my money and went home in a slump. :(
Oh well, it just goes to show you, start the reserve at least half of the market price, or put it on ebay. :/

Hello!
Haven't been on recently, but I am glad to have an ACTUAL Story to share this time. If you are subscribed to my email updates, YAY!

A truly great man in organized numismatics. If you haven't heard of him, you will, because he still has a few years left in him! :d He is especially into California's numismatics. I met him when I joined the California State Numismatic Association. We email each other all the time, and a few weeks ago he asked me a very great(for me) question.
Would you like the speak at the educational symposium for the CSNA?
Well OF COURSE! :)
So I am going to prepare a speech (about half an hour) on Christian Gobrecht. I will be talking about him, and his work. I will be speaking among many accomplished numismatists, so I am REAL excited. Will give report when I finish in September.

A day as a intern for a coin shop...
Hello Everybody. I am sure somebody will read this. Today, I got in contact with Vince from ******* ***********. He said that I could come with my parents (I am 13), and we could work on some "projects". Well, I got there a half hour before it opened. When I was let in, I sat while I waited for Vince to come(His wife let me in early). A customer walked in by the name of 'Sauhn". I listened to him talk to the wife of Vince. I noticed something interesting. He sounded just like somebody I knew. I realized that I knew him. It turns out he is BlueRidgeSilverhound from YouTube. He makes great videos about coins. Search for him on YouTube. He is great. And veryyy nice. When Vince came, he talked to my dad, and we decided this was not a job, but rather a "internship" of sorts. I was OK with that. For the next 3 hours, my dad did some errands, and I 2x2'ed some coins up. It is basically a piece of cardboard that folds in two with a hole in the middle so you can see the coin. I probably did 150<. It was all state quarters. When the time came to close, around the time that I finished, at around 2:15, my dad picked me up, and Vince said we would be in contact for more "projects". It was awesome. ;)
